Assembly Instructions

We recommend that prior to assembly of the unit all items are to be sorted and stacked in the following order to make it easier for you.

  1. Uprights and Baselegs
  2. Back Panels
  3. Shelves & brackets
  4. Additional accessories eg; risers/dividers etc.

Drawings and illustrations are merely to help you assemble our modular units.

a) Upright
b) Baseleg
c) Back Panel
d) Shelf
e) Shelf Brackets
f) Ticket Strip
g) Gondola Cover
h) Gondola capping

BASELEGS

Insert the baselegs into the uprights from below as indicated by the arrow and drive them firmly in so that they wedge firmly into the uprights.

Please note: Baselegs are NOT suitable for wall mounted uprights. The foot discs can be adjusted with a 14mm open ended wrench (adjustment range 35mm)

WALL FASTENING

Wall fixing brackets are used for uprights exceeding 220cm to prevent the upright from tilting forward when heavily loaded.

The adjustable wall fixings (fig.2) are used for shelving that is required to stand up to a distance of 25cm away from the wall.

Please note: Wall fixing brackets are not suitable for uprights WITHOUT baselegs.

HOW TO FIT BACK PANELS

  1. Hook in the bottom back panel, approximately 2cm beneath the upper edge of the baseleg;
  2. Place the shelf on the baseleg;
  3. Adjust the shelf and uprights vertically and horizontally by adjusting the foot discs.
  4. Proceed with inserting the remaining back panels until the unit is complete.

rw - Height of Back Panel

PLINTHS

Insert the plinth (2) behind the perforated front plate of the baseleg. For this, the baseleg (1) must be moved slightly to one side to position the plinth correctly.

BASE SHELVES

The shelf is inserted upon the baseleg with the larger bent down edge to the front.

Figure 1: The shelf must engage into the slots of the baselegs.

Fig 2: This is incorrect.

SHELVES

Place one bracket into each of the uprights of the ready assembled unit, and then place the shelf upon the brackets locations.

ADDITIONAL PARTS AND ASSESSORIES

Gondola cover and capping for uprights. Insert the gondola capping into the top of the uprights and then place the gondola cover along the top edge of the back panels.

EPOS/PRICE STRIPS

Place the top edge of the strip onto the front edge of the shelf. You should then press the bottom edge of the price strip until it clips to the front edge.

RISERS AND DIVIDERS

Fit the risers into the front and back slots of the shelf. Insert the required number of dividers. Please note: Insert the dividers the correct way up.

SLATBOARD WALL FIXING ADVICE

In most cases slatboard is best fixed to timber batons.

We advise that timber batons 1 inch thick x 4 inch wide (25mm x 100mm) are screw fixed vertically to the wall.

The Length of screws & fixings required will depend on the type of wall.

The batons must be securely fixed.

If standard 1200mm wide slatboards are used then the batons can be fixed at every 600mm. This will enable the boards to be joined and fixed each side and also fixed down the centres.

Do not fix all the batons at once, because you might need to adjust the spacing as you go along.

To fix slatboards

Slatboards are screw fixed through their slots into the batons.

Drill pilot holes for the screws as this will enable easy fixing, and allow the screw heads to self countersink into the board.

If you use 1 inch {25mm) thick batons we recommend the use of 32mm long (one and a quarter inch) screws with countersink heads. Longer screws will go right through the batons and hit the wall before they can countersink and shorter screws may not give a good fixing.

If the batons are slightly less than 1 inch (25mm) thick because they have been planed you will have to use 25mm (1 inch) long screws. Each 1200mm high slatboard should be fixed with at least 4 screws down each baton.

Plastic inserts

Slide into the grooves to add strength, cover the fixing screws for a better appearance. It is easier to slide them in from the edge, but if the last board ends up against a side wall the plastic inserts can be flexed in from the front.

Aluminium inserts

Aluminium inserts add even more strength but they can only be inserted from the edge. If the last board in the run ends up against a side wall it will have to be screw fixed through the front of the aluminium inserts. Using a silver finish screw will help to mask this.

We accept no liability for this advice as we have no control over the quality of walls, batons, screws, or workmanship.

HOW TO FIX CENTRE POST TO A WALL

Wall spacing for the metal posts. The recommended spacing is 120 cm (4ft) centres. This can be varied slightly, but it cannot be less than the length of the rails or shelves that will be fitted.

There are keyholes in the metal post

  1. Mark the position of the keyholes onto the panel, you can mark through the post from the front because the key holes are in both sides of the metal post.
  2. Screw the metal post to the wall (or slide it onto a base).
  3. Screw ordinary wood screws into the back of the wooden panel at the positions you have marked, leaving the heads slightly protruding.
  4. Fit panel by locating the screw heads into the keyholes.
  5. Insert Push Through Bars at heights required.
  6. Hook on rails, back bars & arms, or shelf brackets of your choice.
